Online guidelines are easily accessed and downloaded and are available in both English and Spanish for both professionals and consumers. This site is maintained by the U.S. government and the National Library of Medicine stores these electronic versions of guidelines.

Guide to Clinical Preventive Services Online ****

Both reference materials and guidelines for effective clinical preventive services as well as a search engine are contained online. Examples of materials/guidelines include counseling for risk reduction, immunizations for infection prevention, and screening tests for early detection of disease. An ASCII file can also be downloaded for the Guide.

Put Prevention Into Practice (PPIP) Online ***

This online site is designed to provide primary care providers, their office staff members, and patients with materials to promote and encourage prevention activities. Sponsored by a national, research-based public-private program developed to increase the appropriate use of clinical preventive services. PPIP materials for consumers help patients ask about and keep track of their preventive health care.

Centers for Disease Control: CDC Wonder ****

Single point of online access to CDC reports, guidelines, and numeric public health data. Valuable resource for healthcare professionals as well as the public.

Health Care Information Resources on the Web ****

The Health Services Research journal provides a very good listing of federal and state government, hospital associations, and university based educational health resources. Surveys and statistics are also included.  All references are hyper-linked for ease of access to the information.

Outcomes Assessment and Research ****

This is the Yale School of  Medicine work to “. . . assess healthcare quality and evaluate clinical decision making and comparative effectiveness of specific healthcare interventions.”

Doctor Directory ****

Comprehensive physician locator covers all 50 states and many island destinations covering over 500,000 doctors. Point and click access to not only doctor’s name, specialty, address and telephone number, but also board certification and map to office. Physicians may directly access their record and revise information including office hours and other available marketing customization. Special features also allow search by miles within a radius of present location and includes hospitals and health plans as well.

American Association for Respiratory Care ***

This is a great site because it offers many links on everything that has to do with respiratory care. You can jump to the Lung Association, or to a tobacco information page. There is a wide range of topics on respiration, you choose. A very good site to visit. For patients, doctors, or other medical professionals.
